2025-09-01 – Family Handcraft at Home: Norwegian Knit Cup Cozy (Online)

Learn to knit a mug cozy in the round using two colors of yarn! Made to slide on your favorite cup, hot or cold. Knit in stranded colorwork or make simple alternating stripes using double pointed knitting needles.
This knitting chart is inspired by an antique Norwegian coverlet woven using the crackle weave or halvdreiel technique.
Supplies:
The class price covers the cost of a special folk art class kit designed for two participants to explore knitting. The kit includes most art materials needed, some images as inspiration from the Vesterheim collection, and a treat. Because of the specialized materials included in this kit, this class is best suited for children ages 8+ with an adult.
Students will need to provide their own scissors.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact folkartschool@vesterheim.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.

Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.

You will receive links to the recorded videos by email on the first day of the program.
