2025-02 — 01 Family Handcraft at Home: Kolrosing Inspired by the Sloop Restauration (Online)
Schedule:
Instructor:
Location:
Join woodcarver Steph Hughes and learn the art of kolrosing while being inspired by the story of the sloop Restauration, which will be the subject of our kolrosing design. Come learn as a family by kolrosing the ship that brought some of the first Norwegian immigrant families to America.
The single-masted sloop, Restauration, left Stavanger, Norway, on July 4, 1825, with 52 people on board and landed in New York Harbor on October 9, 1825. It is considered the first organized emigration from Norway to the United States, and the year 2025 commemorates the 200th anniversary.
