Schedule:
October 21-25 (9:00am - 5:00pm)
Instructor:
Ingebjørg Monsen
Location:
This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.
Learn how to copy an old coverlet! Students will study old Norwegian coverlets, starting with a boundweave or krokbragd coverlet from the instructor's family from 1769. Students will learn to determine the materials, sett, and treadling and then draft and weave a sample. Using these skills, the students can then weave a sample of one of Vesterheim's oldest krokbragd coverlets or try to copy a banded style coverlet that includes krokbragd, rutevev (geometric tapestry), brocading, and several two-shuttle patterns.
Level of Instruction:
Intermediate - Students should be able to warp a floor loom with minimal assistance.
Supplies:
Information about supplies/materials fee will be shared soon.
