This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School. 

 

Horsehead ale bowls are one of the more iconic forms of Norwegian folk art. We will carve a horsehead ale bowl from a bandsawn basswood blank. Students will then decorate their ale bowls with chipcarving or incised decoration. Acrylic paints and a beeswax finish will be used to get our ale bowls ready for beer. 

 

Supplies: 

Precut blanks will be available for purchase from the instructor for $30-$40.
