- Location: This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.
-
Instructor: Nancy Odalen
- Level of Instruction: Advanced Beginner through Advanced
Description
The class will be working on a 16" scooped bowl using a Telemark design that is inspired by a piece found in Norway at the Norske Folk Museum in Oslo. The piece pictured here is from the Vesterheim collection and similar to the piece found in Norway. Students will discuss rosemaling from the Telemark area of Norway and visit the collection at Vesterheim to uncover additional pieces that will inspire you for this and future classes. This class starts on Thursday evening to give you time to purchase your wooden wear and paint the background. The design you will be painting is mainly flowers and lacks the Telemark scrolls commonly found in many examples from this area of Norway. However, this design incorporates the lovely asymmetrical flow that typically represents Telemark.
The piece pictured is the one found in the Vesterheim collection
