2026-07-22 – Scandinavian-Style Animal Carving

- Schedule: July 20-22 (9:00 am-5:00 pm CT)
- Location: This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.

- Level of Instruction: Beginner to Intermediate
Description
Carve one or more Scandinavian animals with carver James Miller using techniques that will open the door to carving just about any animal you can imagine. Students will have several animal options to choose from, including patterns from James's book, Whittling Flat-Plane Animals.
Supplies
- Required: carving knife such as Harley knife or other straight-edged carving knife with a 1.5"-2" blade.
- Carving glove
- Strop and compound
Other carving knives / chisels are totally optional. The instructor will have multiple blanks for sale as well as copies of their book.
There will be acrylic paints and brushes to share among the class.
