Frida Hansen – Art Nouveau in Full Bloom
Published by the Stavanger Art Museum in 2015, this book features the works of Frida Hansen (1855–1931) who was an internationally acclaimed artist from Stavanger, Norway. She was active at the turn of the twentieth century and pioneered the development of Norwegian textile art.
Today she is considered one of Norway's foremost artists in Art Nouveau and Symbolism. The book features a broad view of Hansen’s work and sketches including several essays with English translations. It gives valuable insight into Frida Hansen's unique practice.
The first part of the book consists of longer text, illustrative images, and sketches and is printed on high-quality matt, uncoated paper. The other part of the book consists mainly of large reproductions of Hansen's works and is printed on smoother coated quality paper to enhance the details in her tapestries and motifs.
