Carved by Christen Oleson Kjørnes and painted by Sevat Bjørnsen Uppheim in 1830, this ale bowl was brought to Benson, Minnesota, in 1870 by the granddaughter of the carver, Susanne Christine Kjørnes Dalager. Unusually, it originally had a lid. (Vesterheim Collection 1968.027.001)
