Øst-Timor Krokodilleøya
Østigård, T. 2005. Øst-Timor. Krokodilleøya. Exhibition catalogue.
East Timor is affectionately known as the "Crocodile Island" due to a local creation myth and the island's distinctive, ridge-backed shape resembling a sleeping crocodile. The legend tells of a boy who befriended a giant crocodile, which eventually transformed into the island to provide a home for the people.
It is a real pleasure and a great event that historical East Timorese items will be exhibited in Norway. For almost a year and a half in solidarity with Timorese Women, Fana
and Ytrebygda Cultural Office of Bergen Municipality and Hordamuseet has worked on setting focus on East Timor. The result is this exhibition catalog.
