Barbro Broderer by Barbro Tronhuus Storlien
Barbro Tronhuus Storlien has embroidered almost all her life, and is one of the few who still embroiders professionally in Norway. As a bun maker and sought-after course instructor, she has extensive experience in teaching the intricacies of the art of embroidery, and with this book she wants to inspire you to pick up a needle and thread yourself. You learn many different stitch types and techniques, and not least smart tips and advice that make it easier to get a nice result. Barbro shows you that what may at first look scary and difficult, becomes more manageable with a few simple steps. Many of the examples are taken from the great variety of bunads and folk costumes, but the techniques, stitches and tips can be used for all kinds of embroidery projects. The book also gives you an insight into a Norwegian sewing room of today, and addresses thoughts about cultural heritage, modernisation, tradition and continuation. With deep respect for old tradition, Barbro is also avant-garde. Join in and embroider too!
