This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.
Join us for a Hallingdal bunad purse embroidery class with Gina A. Nylund of Bunad Creations! Learn traditional stitching techniques as Gina guides you through creating your own beautifully embroidered purse. She’ll provide all the materials, so you can focus on bringing this exquisite Norwegian craft to life. Whether you already have a Hallingdal bunad or simply want a stunning purse inspired by one, this class is a perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the artistry of Norwegian embroidery.

Some embroidery experience is required
Supplies:
The kit includes the materials to make one purse. The materials fee is $200.
Students will need to provide their own embroidery needles, small scissors, needle threader, good glasses, magnifying lamp, and embroidery hoops.

This class features a collection artifact that was given as a gift to the museum in the 1920s as part of the Amerikagaven, a group of gifts given by Norwegian museums and organized by Maihaugen founder Anders Sandvig in celebration of the centennial of Norwegian-American migration!
