Artist Statement:
This woodblock print is to honor the 200th anniversary of Norwegians in America. In 1925, the USA came out with a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of that sailing. I updated that past piece to celebrate the 200th anniversary.

Materials: block print using woodcarving tools and inked on illustration paper
As a child, Erik was intrigued by folk art and seeing Norwegian things for sale at Vanberia in Decorah. He gravitated to the woodcarvings, especially the Henning carvings and pewter Viking and troll figures. His work is an extension of that of his childhood.
