Description
Vesterheim hosts a monthly bokprat (book group) where we discuss Scandinavian authors and Scandinavian life. Join us in December for a discussion of The Bell in the Lake by Norwegian author Lars Mytting.
The Bell in the Lake is a historical novel, published in 2018 and translated into English in 2020.
The engrossing epic novel was a #1 bestseller in Norway and the first in the Sister Bells Trilogy.
Set in 1880 in the remote mountain village of Butangen, Norway, the story centers on a 700-year-old stave church, legendary "sister bells" with rumored supernatural powers, and a clash between ancient local folklore and modern progress.
Supplies
Registrants should secure their own copy of the book (available for purchase soon through the Vesterheim Museum Store) and have read it prior to the discussion.
Additional Supplies
Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
