  • Location: This is an online class hosted on Zoom.

  • Level of Instruction: Beginner Friendly

Description

This class will explore the comforting rituals of Norwegian café culture through the lens of modern mixology. Students will learn how to craft cozy, coffee-inspired cocktails that honor the tradition of kaffe avec, i.e. coffee “with a little something.” Using Nordic ingredients like cardamom, brown cheese (!), and aquavit, we’ll create warm and cold drinks perfect for slow mornings or festive evenings, all while learning about the social and cultural significance of coffee in Nordic countries.

This Vesterheim cooking class is designed as a small-group cook-along and we invite exchange between the instructor and students in order to build community around food traditions. In this same spirit of sharing, we invite the whole family to experience this collaborative cooking and learning process. Only one registration is needed per household.

Supplies

A full list of ingredients and spirits will be sent to participants one week prior to class. Students will need to provide ingredients for the recipes.

Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
