2025-05-29 – Forged Tool Making (In-Person)

This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School in Vesterheim's new forging classroom.
In this course, students will learn the techniques of blacksmithing by forging their own custom tools. Primary tool projects will include hardened drifts, punches, chisels, tongs, and hardy tools. Heat treatment, metallurgy and more, will be covered as we work to cultivate skills and create usable tools for the smithy. This class is suitable for beginners and for those who would like to continue their learning.

Supplies:
Supplies: natural fiber clothing and leather shoes and gloves, eye and ear protection, water bottle. There will be a $175 materials fee payable directly to the instructor at the time of class.
