2025-03-01 — Family Book Adventure: The Three Billy Goats Gruff (Online)

Join us for this family-fun reading adventure! This book adventure will help your family explore Norway's most famous folk story, The Three Billy Goats Gruff!

Decorah schools librarian Shannon Horton will get you reading, thinking, creating, and even up and moving – indoors and out! A kit delivered right to your home contains the book, supplies for book-reading, a fun craft, a snack, and a scavenger-hunt-type adventure. Your family can be any combination of folks as long as there’s at least one adult to help navigate the online portion.

Note: This program has been designed for families to experience on their own schedules. There is no live Zoom event and no scheduled class time – your family can participate anytime during the month when it works for your schedule! On the first of the month, you will receive an email with the links and information about how to access.

Supplies: 

The $30-per-family price covers the cost of a kit including a copy of the book, materials you'll need for the fun hands-on activities, a special treat from Vesterheim, and directions for downloading and using the Goosechase app (a free app that is downloadable on any iOS or Android device). You will need to provide a tablet or mobile device to use the Goosechase app.

If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact folkartschool@vesterheim.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class. 

Additional Supplies:

Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.

Special Instructions:  

When registering for the class, please make sure to use the mailing and email addresses you'd like the Zoom meeting invitations sent to. You will receive links to the Zoom sessions by email sometime during the week prior to the class. If this class is a gift, please sign up with the recipient's mailing and email addresses or be prepared to forward the kit and all communications.
