2025-03-01 — Fastelavnsboller (Online)

OL.2025.Q1.23
$30.00

Schedule:

March 1 (11:00 am-Noon and 1:00-2:00 pm CT)

Instructor:

Kristi Bissell

Location:

This is an online class hosted on Zoom.

On Shrove Tuesday and throughout the Lenten season in the Scandinavian countries, people indulge in fastlavnsboller (Norwegian) or semlor (Swedish), buttery cardamom buns filled with a rich almond filling and topped with a flourish of whipped cream. Join Kristi and learn to make these buttery, almond-filled sweet buns at home! They are as delicious as they are beautiful and are surprisingly easy to make. Kristi will share a recipe for the traditional almond filling as well as some ideas for creative fillings beyond the traditional.

This Vesterheim cooking class is designed as a small-group cook-along and we invite exchange between the instructor and students in order to build community around food traditions. In this same spirit of sharing, we invite the whole family to experience this collaborative cooking and learning process. Only one registration is needed per household.

Supplies:

A full list of ingredients will be sent to participants one week prior to class. Students will also need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.

Special Instructions:
