  • Location: This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.

Description

This is a project painting class. The project is a 16” plate. The center is approximately 10” in diameter with two borders. surrounding the center. The background color on the plate is black green (DecoArt Americana).

And as always, you may use any background color you wish, you don’t have to have the same background color I use. Palette colors can be determined in class if necessary.

The project will be available from the Vesterheim shop. Please contact the shop to let them know if you want the project. If you wish, please bring prepared practice boards if you do not want to paint on the woodenware during the class. The instruction will be for oils, but proficient acrylic painters are most welcome. Both oil and acrylic palettes are provided with the design.

Supplies

Students are expected to provide their own supplies for this class, most of which can be purchased throught the Museum Store. 

Following are the oil colors that the instructor uses. Please bring the paints that you have. Ruth will bring her colors and will be happy to share if there is a color that you don’t have.

  • Acrylic Pallete for those painting in acrylic

      • Raw Sienna

  • Brushes reccomended by the instrucor:
    • Scharff 130 Syn-Sable shader – sizes 2 and 4
    • Scharff 480 Scroller – 10/0 or 6/0 (liner)
    • Scharff 426 Teardrop – size S
  • Please bring all other supplies that you need appropriate to the medium you use – such as, tracing paper, transfer paper, painting medium, brush cleaner, pencils, scissors, tape, sandpaper, tack cloth, paper towels, tissues, etc
