2025-09-12 – Knitting a Red-Listed Fringe Hat (Online)

OL.2025.Q3.73
$100.00

Schedule:

Fridays, September 12-26 (6:00-7:30 pm CT)

Instructor:

Susan Kolstad

Location:

This is an online class hosted on Zoom.

Norway's rich traditions of crafts have been thoughtfully addressed through classes in Norway by Husflidens throughout the country. Some less common techniques are placed on a "red list" and special consideration is given to preserve these less common techniques. Applying fringe (a looping technique) is a traditional knitting skill worth learning and applying as a decorative and practical detail to knitted items! Recently, a knitted hat pattern with a clipped-fringe border was published by the Husflidslags and Norse Folkemuseums in Norway. In this class, we will explore "red list" resources as well as knit the hat with a fringe cuff.
