Hold candy, jewelry, or keys – there are many uses for this ceramic handmade tray by artist Sue Flanders!

The design depicts two maidens in traditional clothing. The design of the maidens is similar to some in old Scandinavian tapestries connected to the Biblical parable of the Five Wise and the Five Foolish Virgins, which was a popular theme for art in Norway in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

Sue Flanders has been designing knitwear for more than 30 years. She has co-authored two knitting books – Norwegian Handknits and Swedish Handknits, both based on historical artifacts from Vesterheim and the American Swedish Institute, respectively. Sue has also explored many other fiber arts including weaving, spinning, nålbinding, and skinnfeld. She lives in Mora, Minnesota, and teaches classes at various folk schools in her area. She has branched into making ceramic ornaments.

6 x 6 inches.
