Fletre Light Double Earrings by Sylvsmidja

550934/Double
$145.00

The exhibit Lars Fletre: Resistance, Resilience, Artistry on view in 2026 at Vesterheim features this Norwegian-American artist known for his work in sculpture, woodcarving, painting, and glass art.

In 1946 Fletre published the booklet Fiat Lux Norvegia! Let there be Light, Norway!, a collection of poetry and fiction by Nordic writers. Fletre illustrated the book with linocuts of scenes of daily life. With the end of WWII, the scenes were optimistic – children in a garden, a family on a walk – and many featured motifs of light.

This light motif has been translated into silver jewelry by Sylvsmidja, Norway’s largest producer of bunad (Norwegian traditional dress) silver, crafting exquisite jewelry and accessories at their workshop in Voss since 1940.

These beautiful pieces are simple, yet elegant, and can dress up almost any outfit.

Sterling 925 silver.

Pendant is 40 mm. Hook ear wire.

"..like a child bursting with life spreads light around itself for warmth, benefit, and comfort." – Lars Fletre
