6 inches long and 4 inches tall. Ale bowls come in many forms – bowls, horse and ram heads, dragons and ale hens. Ale hens played an important part in ancient Norwegian history and culture. It was common Norwegian drinking vessel made out of wood and was used in the period from 1300 to 1850.
Rebecca Hanna has been carving since 1991 and has studied under many American and Norwegian teachers. She teaches youth and adult classes at Vesterheim Folk Art School and was awarded a Vesterheim Gold Medal in 2008.
