Description
Scandinavian woodcarvers commonly use long-bladed knives to carve and decorate food spreaders as well as other kitchen utensils, such as spatulas and cooking spoons. Carvers throughout the region have perfected over two dozen different knife techniques for removing wood chips with efficiency and precision.
In this class, students will learn and practice common Scandinavian carving techniques as well as simple knife sharpening. Students will use these skills to carve two food spreaders for their home.
Supplies
A complete kit of materials, valued at $100, will include practice wood, two unfinished spreader blanks, a Mora 106 carving knife, safety gloves, a strop and stropping compound, sandpaper, and a sweet treat from Vesterheim. It is included in the cost of registration and will be mailed to you!
