Description
Rutevev is the Norwegian version of square weave, used to create textiles from coverlets to cushion covers. This class will cover how to weave rutevev and other pattern designs within this simple threading, as well as what to consider when designing future projects. Students may bring a loom (rigid heddle or table loom) if they want to continue working on the project at home.
Prerequisites
Students should be familiar with warping a loom.
Supplies
You should bring a notebook, pencil, and scissors. The class will include a trip to the local yarn store where you can purchase yarn for the class project. You will have the option of choosing between two different yarn weights for your project. If you have suitable yarn in your stash, please bring it along. Five or more colors will be used in the project. Optional Yarns: Lambs Pride Worsted, Rauma Prydvevgarn, 12/6 Seine Twine.
