IP.2026.Q3.32
$445.00

Class Details

  • Schedule: July 28-August 1 (9:00 am-5:00 pm CT)
  • Location: This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.
  • Instructor: Lise Lorentzen
  • Level of Instruction: Intermediate and Advanced

Description

This class is designed for painters with prior rosemaling experience who are ready to deepen their work in the Hallingdal tradition. Students will decorate a traditional Mora stool using classic Hallingdal elements — bold color contrasts, balanced symmetry, dramatic flowers, and strong line work.

Emphasis will be placed on refining brush control, developing confident S and C strokes, and strengthening shading, highlighting, and veining techniques characteristic of Hallingdal. Instruction will include demonstrations, discussion of layout and design balance, and guided work time as students adapt the pattern to a functional wooden surface.

The class will be taught using acrylic paints. Participants should be comfortable with basic strokes and lining, as this project focuses on advancing technique and control while working on a larger, dimensional piece.

Prerequisites

Students should have taken some introduction to rosemaling classes or have equivalent experiences.
