2026-05-12 – Let's Mangle in Viksdal-Style Rosemaling
Class Details
- Schedule: May 12-15 (9:00 am-5:00 pm CT)
- Location: This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.
-
Instructor: Cathy Castellanos
- Level of Instruction: Advanced Beginner to Advanced
Description
Cathy will teach two traditional designs that include Viksdal traditional elements. Each pattern, one a black tine and one a red earth mangle board, has a different background color and woodenware. We'll explore how to paint traditional elongated teardrops and C and S strokes filled with historical symbolism. Come join in the fun and let's mangle!
During class students will visit the Collection Access Space to see original Viksdal pieces and Mangletres. Hopefully this will inspire class members to design their own pieces if desired.
