Yarn Box in Os Style by Trudy Peach
This is an Embellishment exhibit piece. Available to pick up or have shipped after January 5, 2024.
Artist Statement: I was inspired to paint the yarn box in the Os style using cheerful colors and various embellishments; variegated teardrops, dots, feathered leaves, fantasy flowers, all painted in warm and brilliant colors. The side panels are painted with flowers, capturing the movement of wind that sways them on a warm, sunny day. The yarn box was constructed by Paul Pittelkow with a hand-carved handle and yarn openings on both sides. This box beautifully contains the crafters yarn from rolling away.
I have been rosemaling for approximately 45 years. My first rosemaling class was at the Milwaukee Vo-Tech in 1969 taught by Inga Peterson. I received a Vesterheim Gold Medal in Rosemaling in 1986. Currently, I instruct classes in Old Rogaland, Os, and Agder styles.
