Sigurd Men’s Sweater by Dale of Norway

94671-E-XXL
$240.00 $168.00

The Sigurd sweater is adorned with horn toggles, runes (ancient alphabetic letters), and Viking symbols. The Freja rune on the sleeves is connected to love and beauty, but also to witchcraft and war. Two other runes interlocks with the Freja rune and balances it out: one is for love, the other for eternity. The Ægishjalmur rune on the sleeves is said to make your enemies fear you, but also to prevent misuse of power. The back is adorned with Yggdrasil, the evergreen “World Tree” from Norse mythology, with branches extending into the heavens and roots stretching into the underworlds. Since this tree is holding up the whole world, the world’s health is dependent on the wellbeing of the Yggdrasil. The sweater is named after the mythological hero Sigurd Fåvnesbane who killed the dragon Fáfnir (Fåvne) in the Volsunge Saga.

The Sigurd men’s sweater is made of 100% fine Norwegian wool from the sheep’s very first shearing. The short fibers of the wool make the yarn finer and softer, giving us a light, warm and comfortable sweater. The neck is lined with skin soft merino-wool. Designed and knitted in Norway.  Machine wash using wool-cycle.

Dale of Norway is known for its long knitting history and quality. Since 1879, Dale has crafted the world’s finest knitwear, inspired by beautiful Norwegian patterns and the active Norwegian lifestyle.
