2023-05-13 – Celebrate Syttende Mai with the World’s Best Cake: Kvæfjordkake! (Online)

Join celebrated cook and author Nevada Berg in making one of Norway’s most beloved cakes from her new cookbook, Norwegian Baking through the Seasons. Vanilla sponge baked with meringue becomes the centerpiece of this dreamy layer cake filled with custard and whipped cream. Come ready to learn, eat, and have fun!
This Vesterheim cooking class is designed as a small-group cook-along, and we invite exchange between the instructor and students in order to build community around food traditions. In this same spirit of sharing, we invite the whole family to experience this collaborative cooking and learning process. Only one registration is needed per household
Recipes will be sent to you approximately one week prior to class. Students will need to provide ingredients for the recipes.
Optional: Nevada's new cookbook Norwegian Baking Through the Seasons will be published in English in mid-April and will be available for purchase through Vesterheim Museum Store.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact email@example.com when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
