Searching for Nora - A Novel After the Doll’s House by Wendy Swallow

At the end of Ibsen’s play A Doll’s House, Nora Helmer walks away from her family, slamming the door, and we never see where she goes. Guided by the historical realities and a close study of this celebrated Ibsen character, author Wendy Swallow shows the other side of the door in Searching for Nora.

Nora is alone, with little money and few legal rights. Guided by instinct and sustained by her will, Nora embarks on a journey that impoverishes and radicalizes her, then strands her on the Minnesota prairie. She aches for family and acceptance, but struggles to be honest in a hostile world.

Winner of a Silver Medal, Best Regional Fiction Midwest 2020 at the Independent Publisher Book Awards, and Finalist, Regional Fiction Midwest at the 14th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards.
