2023-02-02 – Scandinavian Loom Beading (Online)

Thursdays, February 2, 9, 16 & 23 (1:00-3:00 pm CT)

Laura Berlage

This is an online class hosted on Zoom.

Explore the beauty and fun of beading on a loom in the Scandinavian tradition! Inspired by designs from Nordic bandweaving, this class will take you from start to finish for making your own sparkly beaded bookmark. Learn about the historic use of loom beading and how a remarkably simple process can transform seed beads into delightful designs. The class kit includes a handmade loom designed by the instructor and enough beads, silk thread, needles, and patterns to make two projects, if you wish.

As part of your registration, a full kit of materials ($85 value) including a hand-made wooden beading loom, silk thread, beading needles, seed beads, drafted project patterns, and a sweet treat from Vesterheim will be shipped to your home! Students must provide a sharp thread scissors and good lighting.

If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact folkartschool@vesterheim.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
