Level 4 Norwegian Language (Tuesdays, June 7 - July 26) (Online)


Take your Norwegian Language skills to the next level with Dr. Maren Anderson Johnson! This class is designed for students who have completed Vesterheim's Level 3 Norwegian Language and are ready to pursue their learning further. If you haven’t taken the Level 3 class through Vesterheim but think this class is the right fit for your language skills, please connect with our Folk Art School team so we can put you in contact with Dr. Johnson to approve your enrollment. You will continue to use the textbook Sett i gang and study more conversational language. Once you finish this class, you will be ready to visit Norway!

The weekly class meetings will happen on Zoom for an active, conversation-based hour. Don't hesitate to email folkartschool@vesterheim.org with any questions.

This is an online class hosted on Zoom. 


For this class you will need to purchase your own textbook: Sett i gang Vol. 1 by Nancy Aarsvold, Kari Lie Dorer, ISBN: 9781530276004.

Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.

About the Instructor:

Dr. Maren Anderson Johnson holds the Tomson Family Endowed Chair in Nordic Studies and is the Director of the Richard L. and Judith A. Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies at Luther College. She teaches courses in Norwegian language and contemporary Nordic culture. Johnson received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Scandinavian language and literature from the University of Washington and B.A. in Norwegian language and literature from Pacific Lutheran University.
