Intro to Rosemaling: Nordfjord Style (Online)
Saturday, August 20 (10:00 am-Noon and 3:00-5:00 pm CT) and Sunday, August 21 (1:00-3:00 pm CT) as well as time between sessions spent painting independently.
This is an online class hosted on Zoom.
If you’ve ever thought about trying rosemaling, here’s a great opportunity to take the brush in hand! Rosemaling is an iconic and traditional Norwegian folk art. The class will include demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice. Students will be provided with all the supplies and materials needed to practice strokes and complete a project on a shallow wooden bowl. Find out about the stylistic elements of Nordfjord style rosemaling while learning how to prepare and base coat your surface, hold and clean your brush, do line work, and so much more. The class will be taught using oil paints – if you've painted with acrylics, this would be a good opportunity to explore oil!
The cost of registration includes a kit with all the materials you need shipped to your home (a $60 value!) including a wooden bowl, high-quality brushes, paints, medium, sandpaper, materials for transferring the pattern, and a palette knife. Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact email@example.com when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
When registering for the class, please make sure to use the address you'd like the kit shipped to, and the email address you'd like the Zoom meeting invitations sent to. You will receive links to the Zoom sessions by email sometime during the week prior to the class. If this class is a gift, please sign up with the recipient's mailing and email addresses or be prepared to forward all communications and/or kit supplies.
