Gudbrandsdal Rosemaling

Gudbrandsdal is a beautiful style of painting using the turned-over look of the acanthus leaves. In this class, we will take an in-depth look at the origin of this style and the use of leaves, and how they flow off of the scroll. We will learn the strokes used to create these leaves and also the flowers of Gudbrandsdal. There will be a simple project to start and then you can progress to more advanced designs. Some designs will be available but you will be encouraged to try designing your own with Nancy’s help. The piece shown is not the class project but is representative of the style that will be taught.
