Thursday, November 3 - Sunday, November 6, 2022 (9:00 am-12:00 pm, 1:00 pm-5:00 pm)
This is an in-person class hosted at the Vesterheim Folk Art School in Decorah, Iowa.
Dragon style is a fun and expressive form of relief carving. Becky has her own style of dragon carving and usually draws her own designs. Every once in a while it is fun to carve a design from an historical piece. This panel is an adaptation of a door panel from the Hylestad Stave Church in Norway. It shows Sigurd slaying Fafnir, the dragon. It will be the featured project for this class. If students wish to adapt their favorite dragon style design into a project, Becky will assist in the design process. Pre-routed blanks of the featured project will be available for purchase. Students wanting to design their own project need to contact the instructor prior to class. Materials fee ranges $35-50 depending on the project.
Level of Instruction:
This class is for intermediate-level carvers, ages 15+.
