Friday, November 3 - Sunday, November 5 (9:00 am-5:00 pm CT)

Scott Johnson

This is an in-person class held at Vesterheim Folk Art School.

Kolrosing is a traditional Scandinavian art form used to decorate utilitarian wooden items such as spoons, plates, small boxes, and lefse sticks. We will be incising/stippling the surface of the wood and backfilling with various pigments. You will be able to complete numerous projects to take home for family and friends. On day one, we will work on small items, developing our kolrosing skills. Day two, we will be kolrosing a handmade shrink pot that the instructor made out of white poplar. Day three, we will be kolrosing a beautiful porridge spoon, handmade by Jeff Ward. You will have the opportunity to use numerous stippling/shading tools. Join in for three days of fun, learning the basics of kolrosing, and beyond.
