2023-03-18 – Weave Nordic Coasters or "Mug Rugs" (Online)
Saturdays, March 18 - April 22, 2023 (3:00-5:00 pm CT)
This is an online class hosted on Zoom.
Inspired by pieces from the Vesterheim collection, this course invites you to weave classic Nordic star/rose motifs in miniature tapestries that can serve as mug rugs, coasters, or cute keepsakes. Each design is different, starting with classic rutevev techniques, including one motif with elements at ¼ inch scale. The second two stars incorporate angles as well as interlock, providing more practice in tricky points. Stories, pro tips, and technique finesse are all part of this course, which is designed for graduates of Intro to Tapestry Weaving Level-2. This project fits on your frame look from the class Intro to Tapestry. Build on your tapestry chops with this great skill builder.
A complete kit of materials ($75 value!) including hand-dyed wool yarn from the instructor’s sheep, color pattern, detailed photo essay, paperboard spacers, your very own Vesterheim tumbler, and a sweet treat is included in the cost of registration. You will also need a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
This class is designed as a skill-builder for students who have completed both Level 1 & 2 Tapestry Weaving with Laura Berlage.
