Wednesday, March 29-Saturday, April 1 (9:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 pm-5:00 pm)

This is an in-person class hosted at the Vesterheim Folk Art School in Decorah, Iowa. 

 

Discover the magic of plants as dye in this introductory natural dyes workshop.  Working with a variety of historic dyes, we’ll work with yarns, create surface designs on silk, and get playful for colorful, exciting results!  In addition to leaving with some fabulous items, we’ll talk about the resurgence of natural dyes and best practice. Wear working clothes and prepare for some fun in the dye baths!

 

Supplies: 

Apron, working clothes, note-taking supplies, small item from home to dye or consult on (such as yarn skein, shirt, etc). Washed locks are welcome but please do not bring any raw fleece.

There will be an additional materials fee of $90, payable to the instructor. Extra materials will also be available for purchase during class.
