2023-06-03 – Continuing the Basic Strokes of Rosemaling: Telemark Style (Online)

Saturday, June 3 (10:00 am-Noon and 3:00-5:00 pm CT) and Sunday, June 4 (10:00 am-Noon CT)

Lise Lorentzen

This is an online class hosted on Zoom.

If you have already tackled the Introduction to Basic Stroke Work of Rosemaling class with Lise, we welcome you back with fun sessions to continue your journey and learn basic stroke work with a new pattern and project! Join us for more S and C scroll painting and learn how to prepare your surface, apply a base coat, and transfer a pattern. Keep on dipping your brush in the paint and toe in the waters with other rosemalers. Develop your technique further and meet new friends. The class will include demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice. The class will be taught using acrylic paint.

This class builds on the techniques taught in Introduction to the Basic Strokes of Rosemaling and is designed for students who have already taken an introductory level rosemaling class with Vesterheim. If you've taken either the intro level Telemark or Hallingdal class with Lise, this class will be a good fit.

A complete kit of materials shipped to your home (a $60 value) is included in the cost of registration. The kit will include all the supplies and materials needed to practice strokes and complete a project on a wooden plaque, including brushes, sandpaper, paints, medium, transfer paper, a stylus, and a palette knife.

If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact folkartschool@vesterheim.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.

Additional Supplies:

Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection. Students will also need basic household supplies, such as paper towels, water, plastic wrap, dish soap, and plain white paper.
