Scraffito Rosemaling Cup by Rachael Saum

The cup is wheel thrown and decorated with Scraffito rosemaling – a surface technique in which the design is scratched through colored clay slip to show the contrasting natural clay underneath. All decoration is done by hand using no patterns. Each piece is one of a kind, decorative, and always food safe and functional for daily use. 

Rachael Saum is a full-time studio potter with a love of rosemaling based in Taos, New Mexico.
