As one of few in Norway doing research on bunader, cultural historian Anne Kristin Moe explains why and how the first embroidered bunader were designed at the turn of the century, and the emergence of a new look and way to use them during the interwar period.

Never before have so many of the most famous Norwegian bunader been shown along with the originals that inspired their designs. The book shows hundreds of Laila Durán's wonderful photographs, presented in both the historic interiors where they once were used and in the magnificent Norwegian scenery.
