2023-11-10 – Vesterheim Filmprat: John, the Last Cowboy (Online and In Person)
- This film screening will be hosted live in Vesterheim Commons and simultaneously live-streamed – join us online or in-person!
- The discussion on Saturday is an online class hosted on Zoom.
In a twist on Vesterheim's bokprat discussions, join us in November for a screening and discussion of the film John, the Last Cowboy. The documentary is centered on 92-year-old John Hoiland as he manages his large ranch in Montana all by himself. Although wealthy people are lining up to buy his property, John's wealth is not in the value of the ranch but rather in the freedom to work his own land.
On Friday night, we'll screen the film before discussing it on Saturday afternoon. One registration will sign you up for both events! If you can't make it to Decorah, you can join us online with a link that will be sent to you. (If you can't join online or in-person for the Friday night screening, you can pay a small fee to view the film on your own schedule on Vimeo –email us at email@example.com and we'd be happy to share the link with you.)
Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
When registering for the class, please make sure to use the mailing and email addresses you'd like the Zoom meeting invitations sent to. You will receive links to the Zoom sessions by email sometime during the week prior to the class. If this class is a gift, please sign up with the recipient's email address or be prepared to forward all communications.
