2023-09-09 – Introduction to Rosemaling: Nordfjord Bowl, New Project (Online)
Schedule:
Saturday, September 9 (9:30 am-Noon and 3:00-5:00 pm CT)
Instructor:
Patti Goke
Location:
This is an online class hosted on Zoom.
If you’ve ever thought about trying rosemaling, here’s a great opportunity to take the brush in hand! Rosemaling is an iconic and traditional Norwegian folk art. The class will include demonstrations and plenty of hands-on practice. Students will be provided with all the supplies and materials needed to practice strokes and complete a project on a shallow wooden bowl. Find out about the stylistic elements of Nordfjord style rosemaling while learning how to prepare and base coat your surface, hold and clean your brush, do line work, and so much more. The class will be taught using oil paints – if you've painted with acrylics, this would be a good opportunity to explore oil!
Supplies:
A complete kit of materials shipped to your home (a $65 value) containing paints, brushes, boards, palette paper and knife, sandpaper, chalk and more is included in the cost of registration.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact folkartschool@vesterheim.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
Additional Supplies:
Students will need to provide a computer, laptop, or tablet with a camera and mic as well as a fast, reliable internet connection.
