Family Friluftsliv Adventure (Online)
Looking for a fun way to explore Norwegian culture with your family on your own schedule? June's Family Friluftsliv Adventure is for you! You'll get to explore the Norwegian tradition of frilutsliv as a family, and you can do it when it works for your family's schedule.
Friluftsliv is not just an activity, it's the idea of living a full outdoor life with nature at the core. Through hands-on activities and short videos, you and your family will explore the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv, spend time outdoors together, and learn and practice Norwegian words and phrases. A kit will be delivered right to your home containing supplies for these activities along with a helpful reference sheet for all the new words and expressions you will be learning and a yummy treat.
The best thing about this class is that you can explore the activities and challenges whenever it is most convenient to you and your family members! The instructional videos will be short to ensure you will have plenty of time to be active and explore together as a family. A fun app called Goosechase will guide you in outdoor activities and allow you to share your adventures with others. These videos and activities are geared towards all ages but are most appropriate for families with school-age children. You and your family will be spending time together, enjoying the learning adventure, sharing in activities!
This program has been designed for families to experience on their own schedules. There is no live Zoom event and no scheduled class time – your family can participate anytime during the month of June when it works for your schedule!
This is an online class.
The $20-per-family price covers the cost of a kit including materials you'll need for the fun hands-on activities, reference sheets, a special treat from Vesterheim, and directions for downloading and using the Goosechase app (a free app that is downloadable on any iOS or Android device). Students will need to provide a tablet or mobile device to use the Goosechase app.
If you are registering for this class in a location outside the United States, you will need to provide your own supplies. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org when you register for more information about what materials are required for this class.
Your “family” could be any combination of an adult or adults and child or children, all who are ready to have fun outside and learn some Norsk are welcome!
Kits are mailed out in time for you to begin your adventure on June 1. Only one adult should register for the family. When registering for the class, please make sure to use the email address you'd like class communications sent to. You will receive links to the instructional videos on June 1. If this class is a gift, please sign up with the recipient's mailing and email addresses or be prepared to forward all communications and/or kit supplies.
