2024-11-02 — Rutevev Sheep Skin Pillow (online)
Schedule:
Instructor:
Location:
Rutevev (Norwegian for “square weave”) is a beloved tradition in tapestry weaving. Skinnfell (full fleece shearling pelt from sheep) is a beloved tradition too! Historically, tapestry and skinnfell could be used together to make especially warm winter bedding. In this class, we’ll hone our skills in rutevev techniques like interlock, pattern reading, evenness, and symmetry. The weaving techniques are combined with learning leatherworking skills to transform your tapestry into a beautiful and cozy pillow with a sheepskin back. Both the wool in the yarn and the sheepskin pelt are from the instructor’s sheep!
