2024-11-09 – Chip Carved Ornaments (In Person)
Schedule:
Instructor:
Location:
What is more fun than hand-carved Christmas ornaments? These are smaller projects that can be made for yourself to decorate your tree, or given away to friends and family as gifts. This class is for the person that has been intrigued by chip carving in the past and has the desire to start with the basic skills. It is also an art that does require some hand strength. The basics of chip carving covered will include, but not limited to: safety, holding the knife, types of wood and grain, and transferring patterns. Some of the basic chips that will be covered include, the basic 3-sided chip, a line, and 4-sided chips. We will also learn the order in which the chips should be removed, carving the center (focal point) where points come together, how to insert a hanger, and finishing.
