Kongetinn Pewter Cheese Slicer
Availability: Out Of Stock
This “Royal Pewter” has the Kongetinn design, which was inspired by events that took place in Norway almost 1000 years ago, during the Viking period. Many Viking kings then surrounded themselves with artisans of all kinds and took great pride in their own artistic skills. The saga tells us that King Olav the Holy, who introduced Christianity to Norway, carved the dragon head on one of his Viking ships. King Olav became the inspiration for the “Kongetinn” pattern.
At one time pewter was the status symbol of such rank that the old kings ate from pewter plates, while lesser mortals had to put up with gold ones! The people of today do not put pewter flatware on their tables to prove that they can afford it, but because it is a genuine product of lasting beauty with attractive patterns. Pewter takes kindly to contact with all kinds of food and is non-toxic.
