In this story, two freshman nursing students, German Alena and Norwegian Karin, meet in a Berlin hospital in pre-WW-II Germany. After graduation the pair go their separate ways, Alena to work with Hitler's euthanasia program and Karin back to Norway to become a nurse and agent with the Norwegian Resistance. They meet again in 1965 when Alena is on trial for murder in the euthanasia program.
