Vera Harris' Old Decorah Houses and Their Stories Compiled and Edited by Elizabeth Einspahr Lorentzen

The text for this book is from a notebook written by Vera Harris who was born in Decorah, Iowa, in 1897. The book includes over 160 color historical and contemporary photographs of Decorah's buildings and the people who lived and worked in them. The photographs come from private collections and the archives of many institutions, including Vesterheim.

This first-person account of history and experiences gives a glimpse into Decorah’s past. Lorentzen, who is an art teacher at Decorah’s high school, is considered a resident expert on Decorah, particularly its houses and buildings.
